The Federal Circuit affirmed the decision of the Patent Trial and Appeal Board that challenged claims of MemoryWeb LLC’s patent directed to computer-implemented methods and systems for managing and displaying digital files are unpatentable as obvious over prior art, in a post-grant review proceeding by Samsung Electronics Co. The court said that the board’s determinations regarding the content of the prior art are supported by substantial evidence, and declined to address claim construction, concluding that there was no error in the board’s approach.
