The Federal Circuit affirmed the decisions of the Patent Trial and Appeal Board that challenged claims of Lone Star SCM Systems Ltd.'s patents that relate to interrogation systems to identify and track items used in a surgical procedure are unpatentable as obvious over prior art, in inter partes reviews by Zebra Technologies Corp. The court determined that the board’s conclusions were supported by substantial evidence.
