The Federal Circuit reversed and remanded decisions of the Patent Trial and Appeal Board finding challenged claims of CPC Patent Technologies Pty Ltd.'s patent that relates to credit card security via biometric verification of the user unpatentable as obvious over prior art, in inter partes reviews by ASSA Abloy AB. According to the court, there is no substantial evidence for the board’s finding that prior art that describes a biometric verification mechanism uses card information to define the biometric signature’s memory location.
