The Federal Circuit affirmed the decision of the Patent Trial and Appeal Board that challenged claims of Pictometry International Corp.'s patent that relates to determining attributes of a roof structure of a real-world three-dimensional building using a region’s aerial imagery including the roof structure, are unpatentable as obvious over prior art, in an inter partes review by Nearmap US Inc. The court determined that the board’s obviousness finding is supported by substantial evidence and affirmed its claim construction.
