The Federal Circuit reversed in part, affirmed in part, and remanded the decision of a federal district court in California granting Intel Corporation’s motion for summary judgment of noninfringement of VLSI Technology LLC’s patent that discloses a multi-core system on chips. The appeals court reversed the district court’s grant of summary judgment of noninfringement on extraterritoriality grounds, reversed the district court’s grant of summary judgment that Intel does not infringe a patent claim and its dependent claims under VLSI’s doctrine of equivalents theory, and affirmed the district court’s striking of the damages theories of one of VLSI’s experts.
