Case: Patents/Summary Judgment (Fed. Cir.)

Nov. 18, 2025, 6:05 PM UTC

The Federal Circuit dismissed in part, affirmed in part, reversed in part, vacated in part, and remanded the decision of a federal district court in Washinton granting in part and denying in part summary judgment on Inventist Inc.'s patent infringement action against Ninebot Inc. The appeals court affirmed the district court’s summary judgment grant that second-generation Ninebot unicyles don’t infringe Inventist’s patent, dismissed Ninebot’s arguments related to its new trial motion for lack of jurisdiction, and reversed the district court’s exclusion of Ninebot’s evidence of noninfringing substitutes because it applied an incorrect legal standard to its evidentiary ruling.
