The Federal Circuit affirmed the decision of a federal district court in New York granting summary judgment for Amazon.com Inc. in Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and CF Dynamic Advances LLC’s action for infringement of a patent that discloses a method for processing a natural language input provided by a user. According to the appeals court, the patent claims are directed to the abstract idea of the use of generic technology and don’t provide an inventive concept.
