A federal district court in New York granted Block Inc.’s motion to dismiss AuthWallet LLC’s action for infringement of its patent that relates to novel and improved methods and systems for processing financial transaction data. The court said that managing the processing of online financial transaction data using authorization requests and conferring discounts and benefits to the consumer for future purchases are abstract ideas, and that the patent doesn’t include an inventive concept.
