A federal district court in North Carolina granted NeoGenomics Laboratories Inc.'s motion for summary judgment on Natera Inc.'s action for infringement of patents related to a test for early detection of cancer recurrence, because the patents claim ineligible subject matter. The court said the patents are directed to a natural phenomenon and don’t contain an inventive concept.
