The Federal Circuit affirmed the decision of the District of Delaware granting Siemens Industries Software Inc. summary judgment of ineligibility of Oasis Tooling Inc.'s patents directed to the identification of similarities and differences among parts of semiconductor chips. The appeals court said that the challenged claims are directed to the abstract idea of a device for analyzing data to identify similarities and differences between design data for semiconductor chips, and don’t recite an inventive concept.
