The Federal Circuit affirmed the decision of a federal district court in Illinois dismissing Cascades Branding Innovation LLC’s action against Aldi Inc. for infringement of patents that relate to brand mapping. The appeals court determined that the district court didn’t err in its determination that the claims are directed to an abstract idea and don’t contain an inventive concept.
