The Federal Circuit affirmed the decision of a federal district court in Pennsylvania granting summary judgment to Pennsylvania Coin LLC and PA Coin Holdings LLC on Savvy Dog Systems LLC and POM of Pennsylvania LLC’s action for infringement of a patent for an electronic gaming method and system having a preview screen. The appeals court agreed with the district court’s conclusion that the idea of displaying the game field before a player starts the game is abstract, and that the additional claim elements fail to contain an inventive concept to transform the claim into a patent-eligible application.
