The Federal Circuit vacated and remanded the decision of the Patent Trial and Appeal Board that claims of CoolIT Systems Inc.'s patent directed to a system for fluid heat transfer to cool electronic devices are unpatentable, in inter partes reviews by Asetek Danmark A/S. The court reversed the board’s partial construction of the claim term “matingly engaged” and held that is properly construed as “mechanically joined or fitted together.” And the court remanded to the board to consider whether prior art discloses the claim term limitations.
