The Federal Circuit affirmed decisions of the Patent Trial and Appeal Board that challenged claims of Katana Silicon Technologies LLC’s patents that disclose a semiconductor device having a structure substantially miniaturized to a chip size structure and a method of manufacturing such a semiconductor device are unpatentable as obvious over prior art, in inter partes reviews by Micron Technology Inc. The court adopted the board’s claims construction and affirmed its decisions.
