The Federal Circuit affirmed the decision of the Patent Trial and Appeal Board that challenged claims of Case1Tech LLC’s patent that discloses an electronic audio device for use with at least one earpiece or a pair of earpieces in a headphone are unpatentable as obvious over prior art, in an inter partes review by Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. and Samsung Electronics America Inc. The court said that the board didn’t err in its construction of the patent claim term “processor.”
