A federal district court in Delaware construed disputed claims in Nichia Corporation’s action against Global Value Lighting LLC for infringement of its patents for light emitting diode technology. The court construed “the “transparent” bulb/board/member” as “a board, bulb, or member that “allows light to pass through"; “cross sections of the protruding portions taken along planes orthogonal to the surface of the substrate are convex in shape” as “cross sections of the protruding portions taken along planes orthogonal to the surface of the substrate are continuously and outwardly curved in shape"; and “isolated processed portions” as “processed” means “non-natural.”
