A federal district court in California construed disputed claims in MPI LLC’s action against Sorting Robotics Inc. for infringement of patents for cone-shaped packages and packaging apparatuses used for loose plant matter. The court construed “paper cone” as defined in the patent as “any relatively thin, flexible, flammable substrate in any generally cylindrical shape,” and “rim,” “fluid,” “access hole,” and “fluid pump” as having their plain and ordinary meanings.
