Challenged claims of WSOU Investments LLC’s patent that provides a bi-directional Label Switched Path that is created by bundling forward and backward LSPs are unpatentable as anticipated by or obvious over prior art, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board said, in an inter partes review by Juniper Networks Inc. According to the PTAB, the challenged claims are anticipated by or obvious over prior art, including prior art that discloses a method and apparatus for unilaterally forming a bi-directional label switched path between first and second routing devices in a network.
