The Federal Circuit vacated and remanded the decision of the Patent Trial and Appeal Board that challenged claims of American Science and Engineering Inc.'s patent that relates to an inspection system using multiple sources of penetrating radiation to inspect an object are unpatentable, in an inter partes review by Viken Detection Corp. The court vacated and remanded the board’s decisions that the challenged patent claims are unpatentable as obvious over and anticipated by prior art.
