A federal district court in Michigan granted 3DExport’s motion to dismiss this copyright infringement action by the alleged inventor/creator of anime — one of the world’s most popular styles of animation. Although he provided a Certificate of Registration from the Copyright Office, it is impossible to determine what he actually owns or how it has been infringed. It is also entirely implausible that he owns a copyright in the anime art style, which was first introduced at least as early as 1917.
