A federal district court in Illinois granted Ryse Up Sports Nutrition LLC’s and an individual’s motion to dismiss Alani Nutrition LLC’s action alleging direct copying of a celebrity photo shoot. The court said it lacked personal jurisdiction, because the individual didn’t have substantial contacts with Illinois. And the court found that Ryse was neither headquartered nor operated its principal place of business in the forum state, nor were its contacts continuous and systematic.
