A federal district court in Tennessee denied Keli Network Inc.’s motion to dismiss Socialcoaster Inc.’s copyright infringement claim arising from the alleged posting of videos on social media. The court found that the original video creators weren’t necessary parties to the litigation because hypothetical scenarios regarding claim estoppel were too far removed from the facts asserted in the complaint. And the court said that the licensing agreement between the creators and Keli wasn’t likely to be adjudicated in the copyright infringement case.
