Carter’s Sued for Infringement of Child Activity Center Patent

Carter’s Inc. is facing claims that it’s violating Oribel Pte Ltd.'s patent rights by manufacturing and selling the Skip Hop activity center, according to a federal court filing.

The retail company’s allegedly willful patent infringement is “causing Oribel to lose significant profits,” the company asserts in a complaint filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.

Oribel, which manufactures and sells globally its PortaPlay Activity Center, obtained a utility patent for a “‘portable activity center for a baby or young child.’” The company’s US Patent No. 10,736,437 covers certain features of a child’s activity center, ...
