Capital One Launches Trademark Case Against Capital 1

Capital One Financial Corp. accused Capital 1 Finance Consultants LLC of infringing various trademarks, in a lawsuit in Texas federal court.

Capital One, which has done business under the name since 1994, alleged that Capital 1, a Houston-based lender, knowingly disregarded its trademark rights through its homophonous name. Capital 1 started using its name in 2017 for credit-score, credit-management, life-insurance, and commercial-loan services, Capital One alleged in its complaint.
