California Casinos Must Face Gaming App’s Trade Secret Claims

A New York federal judge allowed a lawsuit accusing two California casinos of reverse engineering a gambling software’s source code to survive, while dismissing claims of copyright infringement.

Casino operators Stones South Bay Corp. and King’s Casino Management Corp. must face breach of contract and trade secret misappropriation claims after their casinos allegedly violated Transient Path LLC’s licensing agreements, Judge Loretta Preska of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York said in her Aug. 8 opinion. But the judge dismissed plaintiff’s infringement accusations.
