ByteDance Hit With Texas Patent Suit for TikTok Video Technology

NTech Properties Inc. sued the maker of TikTok, ByteDance Ltd., alleging the app and website infringe six patents dealing with media programming and information delivery.

Byte Dance and its unit TikTok Pte. Ltd. allow users to create, share and watch short videos on social media, according to a complaint filed Friday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. NTech, which calls itself a leader in on-demand technology, said TikTok uses similar methods as US Patent Nos. 8,145,704; 9,215,261; 9,923,947; 8,886,753; 9,317,597 and 8,875,185.
