Broadway Show Stole Story From Fleetwood Mac Book, Authors Say

The authors of a book about the making of rock band Fleetwood Mac’s “Rumours” album sued the playwright and producers behind the Tony Award-winning Broadway show “Stereophonic,” accusing them of copying the “heart and soul” of the copyrighted book.

The show, which premiered in October 2023, “uncannily duplicates this precise arc” of co-author Kenneth Caillat’s experience working with the band as an audio engineer who helped produce the record, according to the complaint filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. Co-author Steven Stiefel is also a plaintiff in the suit.
