Broadcom, U. of Minnesota Near Settlement in 2016 Patent Case

The University of Minnesota and Broadcom Inc.’s LSI Corp. told a federal court in California they’re working to finalize a settlement of a 2016 lawsuit over a since-expired patent related to errors recorded in computer storage devices.

Minnesota and LSI “have reached a settlement in principle of all claims between them in this matter” and expect to file a stipulation of dismissal within 60 days that blocks both sides from renewing allegations, according to a joint notice of settlement filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
