Brita and ZeroWater End Water-Filter Patent, Antitrust Suits

Clorox Co.'s Brita unit and ZeroWater agreed to end patent and antitrust disputes over water-filter technology they’ve contested across three courts, including in an appeal of a US trade agency’s ruling that invalidated a Brita patent.

Judge Richard G. Andrews on Tuesday granted Brita’s request to dismiss its patent-infringement suit against ZeroWater and its parent company, Culligan International Co., in the US District Court for the District of Delaware. ZeroWater, Clorox, and Brita also jointly filed a stipulation of dismissal Monday in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, where ZeroWater had alleged antitrust violations.
