Brady Settles Suit on Knockoff Cartridges for Label Printers

Brady Corp. and closely held Unismartech have settled a lawsuit over knockoff replacement cartridges for portable label printers.

  • Unismartech is blocked from selling cartridges that copy the housing design of Brady’s cartridges and infringe its U.K. copyright, according to a proposed agreement filed Tuesday but not yet approved in federal court in Wilmington, Delaware
  • Unismartech also is blocked from falsely advertising that any printer cartridge sold by Unismartech contains Brady labels, and from using Brady’s U.S. copyrighted photos, which it had used in online advertisements
