Bottled water distributor Premium Waters Inc. beat a patent suit over lightweight plastic bottles, after a judge found the patents excluded someone who should have been named an inventor.
Judge William Conley in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin said there was “overwhelming evidence” that Plastipak Packaging Inc. didn’t name the all of the correct inventors for any of the 12 patents involved in the lawsuit. Each patent was invalidated.
Premium is the company behind brands like Glacier Clear and Nature’s Crystal. It also makes bottles for brands like Dasani, court documents say.
