Boeing Owes at Least $72 Million in Trade Secrets Jury Verdict

The Boeing Co. must pay a startup aerospace company at least $72 million, and as much as $254 million, over stolen technology for alternative fuel airplanes, a Seattle federal jury verdict said.

Zunum Aero Inc. convinced the jury to find Boeing misappropriated 11 of 20 stolen trade secrets and also interfered with Zunum’s business. The verdict held the theft was willful, which the judge could use to as much as triple the trade secrets share of the award.
