BMW Lands Agency Review of Oft-Challenged Hybrid Vehicle Patent

BMW convinced the Patent Trial and Appeal Board to review a Paice LLC hybrid vehicle patent, in what was the 27th challenge to the patent at the board.

Ford Motor Co., Hyundai Motor America Inc., and Volkswagen Group of America Inc. each questioned the validity of claims in U.S. Patent No. 7,237,634, in petitions that date to 2014. Paice said no patent has been challenged more times in the PTAB’s inter partes review program.
