BMW and Bosch Say Electronic Controllers Don’t Infringe Patent

BMW and Robert Bosch GmbH told a Virginia federal judge microcontrollers placed into electronic control units inside three SUV models don’t infringe a Foras Technologies Ltd. patent—almost 10 months after Foras sued the companies in Texas over the patent.

The chipsets used in Bosch electronic control units don’t practice the claims of US Patent No. 7,502,958, according to a declaratory judgment action filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
