Blue Cross Sues Ohio Company It Says Tried to Steal Its Name

Blue Cross & Blue Shield Association sued an Ohio medical lien company, accusing it of attempting to use the medical insurer’s own trademarks against it.

Medical Lien Pros LLC improperly registered the trade name “Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield” with the Ohio Secretary of State in May 2025 without permission to use the registered trademarks, according to a complaint filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Southern District of Ohio by BCBSA, Anthem Insurance Cos., and Community Insurance Co., which does business as Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield.
