Black Girls Code Wins Trademark Injunction (1)

BGC Inc., a nonprofit founded to increase Black women’s representation in tech, won an injunction in California federal court against Black Girls Code Inc., a company allegedly advertising an identical service that confuses consumers.

Kimberly Bryant founded the organization in 2011 under the name Black Girls Code Inc., and was suspended indefinitely by the board. The company’s corporate registration lapsed in late 2021, BGC said in its lawsuit in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
