Bill to End Patent Office Validity Challenges Introduced in House (1)

Patents would be private property that only courts could take away, under a bipartisan bill that seeks to strengthen inventors’ patent rights.

The Restoring America’s Leadership in Innovation Act would end the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s administrative review process that lets parties challenge the validity of patents. The bill was introduced June 28 by Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) and is co-sponsored by Reps. Marcy Kaptur (D-Ohio) and Dana Rohrabacher (R-Calif.).

Massie holds 29 patents, including those covering technologies used to design automobiles, jewelry and dental prosthetics, according to his website.
