Bic Corp. launched a two-pronged attack on companies they say have imported millions of knock-off and potentially unsafe pocket lighters from China.
The company, known for lighters, pens, and razors, filed a complaint with the International Trade Commission Dec. 6 and a trademark infringement lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York a day earlier.
The actions target an array of manufacturers and importers. They seek treble damages on lost profits and an ITC ban on imports that Bic says confuse consumers.
