Beyoncé, Sony Sued Over Copyrights for ‘Break My Soul’ Sampling

Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Sony Music Entertainment, and other artists were sued by a New Orleans music group who said the song “Break My Soul” sampled a track from rapper Big Freedia that copied their lyrics and composition.

The artists “intentionally and unlawfully copied the unique and original words” of Da Showstoppaz “Release A Wiggle” song, according to the complaint filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
