Best Medical International Inc. failed to convince the Federal Circuit that its technology related to applying radiation on tumors is eligible for a patent.
A skilled expert would’ve had formal computer programming experience and would’ve found that Best Medical’s invention is obvious and not patentable, the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit ruled in a precedential opinion. There’s enough evidence to support the Patent Trial and Appeal Board’s findings to throw out some of the patent’s claims, the appeals court found.
