Beer Can Patents Improperly Invalidated, Federal Circuit Rules

Two patents covering the bottom of an aluminum beverage can and the method for attaching it to the body of the can shouldn’t have been found invalid, the Federal Circuit said.

The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio found relevant terms in patents owned by Crown Packaging Technology Inc. and Crown Cork & Seal USA Inc. too indefinite to be patentable.
