Bayer’s Monsanto Settles Patent Feud With Indian Seed Maker

Bayer AG’s Monsanto Technology LLC has “amicably resolved” a dispute with Indian seed maker Nuziveedu Seeds Ltd. following a four-year legal battle over patent of genetically modified cotton seeds in India, according to records on the Delhi High Court’s website.

  • The question of law on whether seeds can be patented in India is left open and undecided, the court said in an order dated April 9
  • NOTE: In 2019, India’s top court had overturned a ruling that seeds can’t be patented but asked a lower court to decide the issue again
