Bayer, J&J Sue Indian Pharma Company Over Xarelto Drug Copycat

Bayer Intellectual Property GmbH and J&J’s Janssen Pharmaceuticals Inc. alleges that USV Private Ltd.'s generic version infringes some patents for the blockbuster blood thinner Xarelto, according to a federal lawsuit in New Jersey.

The manufacturing, sale, and importation of USV’s copycat will infringe two patents that cover Xarelto, including a method for using the drug to treat clots that break free and block another blood vessel, according to a complaint filed Sept. 9 in the US District Court for the District of New Jersey.
