Baxter Loses Patent Suit on Becton Dickinson Drug-Transfer Tech

A device formed by combining two components of Becton Dickinson & Co.’s PhaSeal system, which safely transfers hazardous drugs between syringes and drug vials, doesn’t infringe two Baxter International Inc. patents, an Illinois federal judge ruled on Monday.

Judge Joan H. Lefkow, in an opinion issued for the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, granted BD’s motion for summary judgment and held that the combination of the “Protector” and the “Injector” components to form the device doesn’t infringe either of two patents.
