BASF Bid to Block Fungicide to Be Considered by Trade Agency

The International Trade Commission said it’s instituted an investigation based on a patent-infringement complaint BASF filed seeking to block imports of a fungicide used as a seed treatment on corn and soybeans.

  • BASF claims Mumbai-based Sharda Cropchem infringes a patent for a crystalline modification of the fungicide pyraclostrobin, used for disease control, seed technology and a way to improve the health of ornamentals
  • BASF said the technology is a “significant pillar” in its fungicide products
