Barnes & Thornburg Names Billah Head Private Credit Team in NY

M. Shams Billah has joined Barnes & Thornburg as a partner in the corporate department and to lead the private credit team in New York, the firm said Tuesday.

Billah, who joins from Hughes Hubbard & Reed, advises credit funds and other global asset managers on corporate and finance matters as well as advises private equity firms and their portfolio companies in traditional middle-market acquisition and financing transactions, according to Barnes & Thornburg.

He also has experience with debt restructurings, distress-to-own debt investments, liability management transactions, debtor-in-procession financings, and exit financings, Barnes & Thornburg said.
