Ban in Michigan Libertarian Trademark Feud Backed by 6th Cir.

Most of a preliminary injunction secured by the Libertarian National Committee barring dissenting Michigan members from using its trademarks can stand, the Sixth Circuit said Wednesday.

The party will likely succeed in its suit against eight members of its Michigan affiliate who allegedly portrayed themselves as Libertarian Party of Michigan leadership, the US Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit said. The court trimmed the injunction by allowing them to continue “online solicitation accompanied by clear disclaimers” that the party recognizes a different group as the chapter’s leaders.
