Bakery Wins Large Reduction of Verdict in Trade Secrets Row

A jury verdict that found United States Bakery liable for false advertising and misappropriating a rival’s trade secrets will largely stand, a federal court ruled March 5.

The U.S. District Court for the District of Utah refused to overturn the jury’s verdict or grant United States Bakery a new trial. However, it reduced the award the bakery owes its rival Bimbo Bakeries USA from $10.4 million to just over $2.5 million.

Bimbo owns a number of well-known bread and baked goods brands, including Sara Lee, Nature’s Harvest, and Entenmann’s.
