Baker Donelson, Stuck in Ponzi-Born Case, Draws Judge’s Rebuke

The Baker Donelson law firm’s argument in an effort to extricate itself from a court-appointed receiver’s suit over a timber-harvesting Ponzi scheme is “divorced from reality,” a federal judge said.

The firm’s motion comes too late in the case for a dismissal on the pleadings and too early for summary judgment supported by evidence, Judge Carlton W. Reeves said Tuesday for the US District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi.
