Axioma Metering Beats Rival’s Water Meter Patent at Tribunal

Axioma Metering UAB convinced a U.S. Patent and Trademark Office tribunal to invalidate a rival’s water meter patent, which Axioma has been accused of infringing.

The Lithuanian company asked the Patent Trial and Appeal Board to review Kamstrup A/S’ U.S. Patent No. 8,806,957 in September 2019. Kamstrup filed an infringement suit a few months earlier against Axioma in district court.

The PTAB agreed with Axioma that all of the patent’s claims were either anticipated or made obvious by earlier inventions.
